Mara is a development cooperation and climate finance specialist. She predominantly works in technical assistance for investment promotion and access to finance (private, public-private and public), as well as investment analysis for renewable energy and energy efficiency, agriculture, WASH and sustainable transportation projects, mainly in emerging markets. Before joining South Pole, Mara was based in Senegal for GIZ working in a renewable energy project, and before that in Ghana working in a water and sanitation project of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. Mara holds a Master of Arts in International Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School in Boston, USA and a Master of Arts in International Affairs and Governance from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in SDG Investing from the Graduate Institute in Geneva. Mara is fluent in four languages: German, English, French and Spanish.
