South Pole and SEA announce new partnership for a cleaner future
Leading climate change strategy company South Pole is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) that will harness the influence of sports to create a cleaner future for Australia.
South Pole is a leading provider of global climate change solutions and services, with more than 300 experts across 18 offices worldwide, shaping the conversation around climate change since its foundation in 2006. The organisation works to accelerate the low-carbon transition by partnering with leading public and private sector actors to accelerate their climate ambitions.
Following the announcement, Dr Tom Schroder, Head of Climate Action at South Pole spoke on how sports can be a catalyst for taking climate action.
"People are passionate about professional sports, and the sports industry touches in ways that inspire us to become agents of change — in particular, sport allows us to connect with young people, our future leaders," he said.
"We are a global company and a signatory to the UN Global Compact, as well as a member of the Australian Government's Climate Active Carbon Neutral network, and a registered B Corporation™ in Australia. By partnering with SEA, we hope to share our knowledge to strengthen climate action in new fields, like sports," Schroder added.
Executive Director at SEA, Dr Sheila Nguyen said that SEA is delighted to partner with South Pole to fight climate change together.
"For years South Pole's passion to inspire climate action for a better tomorrow has motivated us and we're thrilled to join forces to share resources, build networks and take action to protect the places where we play for future generations," Nguyen said.
South Pole has shaped the conversation around climate change since its foundation in 2006. With offices on five continents and the development of over 700 projects since inception, South Pole is one of the oldest and largest carbon finance companies worldwide.
