Public decision-makers and companies across the world - from Switzerland to the United States - have seen sustainability become mainstream, as citizens and consumers demand their experiences include resource efficiency, renewable energy, and a small carbon footprint.
Proof in the rapidly mushrooming power stations for electric vehicles, increasingly ambitious national plans for climate action, and robust business case for sustainable investments, local and global leaders around the world are having to step up their game to fight climate change and minimise climate-induced risks.
It is against this backdrop that South Pole welcomes on board Bastien Girod, a leading Swiss sustainability expert, to further tailor its global offering for the DACH region and help businesses maximise their low-carbon opportunities. Bastien brings to the company over a decade of experience working at the intersection of environmental science, policy and public debate, and will lead on South Pole's climate innovation in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
"The Paris Agreement has catalysed climate ambition among many companies - in Switzerland and abroad. Businesses not only want to be part of the solution, but they also want to benefit from climate-smart solutions. As one of the world's leading sustainability companies, South Pole is best placed to turn these ambitions into real action on the ground," says Bastien Girod, Senior Business Developer DACH, South Pole.
"At South Pole, we believe in the power of results-based collaboration between public, private, science, and civil society in accelerating the just transition to a low-carbon economy. With the addition of Bastien, our team is gaining a leading, national sustainability authority who shares our vision, and who can cement our position as an expert service-provider and partner in German-speaking countries," continues Renat Heuberger, CEO, South Pole.
