Situated in rural north-west Turkey the Sah Wind project aims to provide clean energy to the surrounding region in a sustainable, cost-effective manner. Channelling the power of the elements 35 turbines generate green energy which is sent directly to the national grid. By stimulating and commercialising the use of grid connected renewable infrastructure the project aims to demonstrate the viability of wind power in the country - feeding into the country’s sustainable development ambitions.
By generating emission free electricity and replacing fossil fuel generated energy from the grid, the project plays a key role in accelerating Turkey’s evolution to a low-carbon economy while reducing global GHGs. In addition the project supports improved energy security through diversification of energy sources. From a social perspective, the project improves local livelihoods through the creation of jobs, both in the construction and operational stages of the plant.
