Social enterprise and water service provider Belu have received the Sustainable Small Business Award at the National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards for their work with Wateraid. Since 2011, the partnership has helped transform 146,671 lives with safe water and decent toilets.
The National CSR awards, now in it's third year and recently rebranded as 'The Global Good Awards', recognises businesses of all sizes for leading the way in sustainable business practice.
As well as investing in ethical partnerships, Belu has set about reducing it's environmental impact on a company-wide scale. They are currently 100% carbon neutral across their business - from office to the products they offer. And for those emissions they cannot reduce, they offset through their partnership with South Pole Group, whose high-quality emission reduction project: the Song Ong Hydropower plant in Ninh Son District, Vietnam, contributes towards balancing the supply and demand gap for energy.
The award recognises the pioneering work that Belu has achieved in the area of corporate sustainability, proving that environmental responsibility and business growth can go hand in hand. The company has recently committed to working with WaterAid until 2030 to help them achieve their vision of everyone, everywhere having access to water and sanitation by 2030, aligning with WaterAid to support the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.
