South Pole appoints HSBC Head of Climate Risk Leila Kamdem as Chief Risk Officer

13 November, 2024, London — South Pole, the leading carbon asset developer and climate consultancy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Leila Kamdem as Chief Risk Officer (CRO), effective January 2025. Leila joins South Pole from HSBC, where she served as Group Head of Climate Risk, leading critical initiatives to enable the Group's Risk and Compliance function to support the bank's climate goals and align with regulatory standards.

With nearly 20 years of experience in risk management and governance, her expertise will build on the strong foundation established by her predecessor, Antoine Prédour. This addition to South Pole' s global leadership underscores the company's continued commitment to risk management and positioning itself for the next phase of growth in the evolving carbon market.

South Pole has been enhancing its leadership throughout 2024 to prepare the company for the next phase of growth while strengthening trust, integrity and transparency in its own business and the wider market. Recent leadership appointments include Board Chair Dame Inga Beale, CEO Daniel Klier, and CFO Nadia Kaddouri.

Leila Kamdem is a senior climate risk professional whose career spans nearly two decades, and includes senior leadership roles at various organisations, including HSBC and Mazars. Prior to her role as Group Head of Climate Risk for HSBC, she was a Partner at Mazars where she held various roles, including UK Head of Financial Services Consulting and Lead Partner for Climate Risk.
