Accelerating climate action before and beyond 2020: South Pole Group partners with UN Climate Change on outreach efforts for COP23: Global sustainability solutions provider South Pole Group has partnered with UN Climate Change to collaborate on public outreach and communications efforts during the UN Climate Change Conference taking place in Bonn, Germany, from 6-17 November.
The two organisations will work together to further the secretariat's efforts to strengthen motivation, spur innovation and catalyse further change towards a low-carbon future. South Pole will help raise public awareness about the conference and its priority topics by showcasing actions and solutions on the ground which could inspire governments, cities, and the private sector to increase their ambition in tackling climate change.
The conference in Bonn, also known as the 23rd annual "conference of the parties" (COP23), is the next key step for governments to implement the global climate agreement and accelerate the transition to a sustainable, climate-resilient world.
"National governments around the world have to increase their level of ambition if we are to meet the goal of keeping global temperature rise to well below 2°C," says Patrick Bürgi, Director Public Sector, South Pole Group. "But it's not only governments that must step-up their efforts. Non-state actors have a crucial role to play in tackling climate change. We are doing all that we can to accelerate this transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy, and could not be prouder to support UN Climate Change in engaging with stakeholders on this shared vision."
