8 December, Bangkok, Thailand – South Pole Thailand has today been selected as Thailand's most sustainable company by the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA), topping five key sustainability categories and earning a special recognition in an additional four.

There is no planet B. Thailand, together with the rest of the world, must move towards a Net Zero future within the next 7 years. We are happy to “show the way" – and hope that our ambition is surpassed by many others. We all must take a fresh look at how to do business, mitigate risk, and adopt innovative and sustainable solutions."
South Pole Thailand recognised as most sustainable SME company in Thailand at Sustainable Business Thailand Awards
The awards, conducted by Global Initiatives in partnership with the global consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), recognises and celebrates organisations that have successfully incorporated sustainability objectives into their long-term business strategy. Shortlisted companies are reviewed by a national advisory panel. The SBA is held annually in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and is one of the most prestigious sustainability awards in Asia, with 50% C-level attendance.
South Pole Thailand received the award for leadership in workforce sustainability, energy management, climate change, waste and material productivity, as well as the UN SDGs. The company was further recognised for the following achievements:
South Pole Thailand was one of South Pole's first global offices outside of Europe. The local team specialises in the development and management of clean energy projects across Southeast Asia, and supports a low-carbon transition by bringing together governments, companies, and investors to create platforms that help address - among others - renewable energy, e-mobility, forestry and land-use, as well as plastic pollution in a holistic way.
Recently, South Pole's SHIFT Asia platform, Asia's first digital carbon platform, was recognized by the renowned P4G community as the 2020 State-of-the-Art Partnership for SDG7 (clean energy).
“In addition to continuously improving our own corporate sustainability, some of the recent projects we are most excited about include working on a first plastic credit standard and mobilising finance for the convergence of renewable energy and e-mobility," continues Ladaporn Khunikakorn, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at South Pole. “We are incredibly proud of our dedicated teams who continue to collaborate across borders to build back better, and, hopefully, inspire other businesses to do the same."
